This month’s Best Classes Class Pass highlights will focus on the best Pilates Classpass classes in NYC and Brooklyn.

Check out 2017’s picks for best Classpass studios

Pilates devotees know how expensive practicing pilates can be. I highly recommend ClassPass to support your pilates fix. With all of the pilates studios on ClassPass NYC, if you worked hard enough with your scheduling, you could attend a pilates class every day for one month.

Sal Anthony's Pilates Studio

Sal Anthony’s Pilates Studio

I am a self proclaimed ClassPass power user who logs in anywhere from 25-40 classes per month all for the lovely price of $99/mo. Don’t worry, many of these classes are restorative yoga and meditation classes (I’m not lifting weights and doing HIIT 40 times a month). I have been dealing with a foot injury, and pilates has been one of the very few low impact exercises I’ve been able to do the past few months… and I have seen some amazing results. This article will take you through the best of the best pilates classes on Class Pass.

Best Classes Class Pass: Pilates Edition

A famous quote by Joseph Pilates states:

“In 10 classes you will feel the difference, In 20 classes you will see the difference, and in 30 classes you will have a whole new body.”

It is recommended you do pilates 3 times per week, and many claim it is safe enough to do every day. In fact Joseph Pilates always encouraged his students to have a home practice even if it was just 10 minutes per day.

Joseph Pilates Mat Class

Joseph Pilates Mat Class

I decided to put the famous 10-20-30 quote to the test while on Classpass. This was an easy task because there are so many amazing pilates studios on Classpass. In fact the hard part was choosing which studios I would attend!

In 3 months I attended 50 pilates classes. I go on average 4 times per week. The only other exercise I was doing during this time was biking 1-2 times/week for leisure, walking the city, aqua cycling (um best experience ever), and restorative yoga. After 10 classes I DID feel a difference; after 20 classes I DID see the difference, and after 30 (now 50) classes I DO feel like I have a new body!

My Top Picks For NYC Pilates Classes On Classpass

I’ve put the studios in geographical order, first the studios in NYC followed by the Brooklyn studios.

Pilates On The Square & Sal Anthony’s Movement Salon

(2 Studios Same Owner!)

Pilates On The Square
857 Broadway, New York, NY 10003 (646) 850-0378

Sal Anthony’s Movement Salon
190 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10003 (212) 420-7242

Making the top of my list are 2 studios run by the same owner. With your Classpass you get a total of 6 classes at these studios: 3 classes at Pilates on The Square and 3 classes at Sal Anthony’s all in one month. Usually on Classpass you cannot go to the same studio more than 3 times even at different locations. Pilates on the Square and Sal Anthony’s is the exception probably because they have different names, just same owner.

These studios hands down have the most pilates classes on the Classpass schedule. Their classes are 30 minutes reformer and 30 minutes cadillac: super fancy pilates equipment classes for a fraction of the cost thanks to Classpass. They offer classes every hour on the hour, and it’s usually pretty easy to get a spot last minute. The teachers vary in their teaching style, and there are a ton of teachers that work there. So try a few out and see who gels with your fitness style.

New York Pilates

Screen Shot 2015-05-25 at 9.55.58 AM 64 W 3rd St, Bsmt New York, NY 10012 (646) 535-0477 New York pilates is a very clean and well equipped studio in the West Village. The basic reformer classes are good for days when you don’t want to push yourself too hard. They have more advanced classes, and those are the classes I personally prefer for an effective workout. If you’re new to pilates, you need to do the basic classes first even if you are strong so you can learn the correct way to do each movement.

IMX Pilates

Screen Shot 2015-05-25 at 9.58.35 AM 265 Madison Ave, 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10016 (212) 997-1167 IM=X is a cross-conditioning system that includes pilates reformer (Xercizer) training moves but adds resistance and plyometric jumps for a more athletically oriented workout so you can tone up and lose inches quickly. IM=X pilates workouts can be tailored for athletes, back pain, pregnancy or weight loss.

Brooklyn Pilates

Screen Shot 2015-05-25 at 10.01.07 AM 158 Montague St, Fl 4, Brooklyn, NY 11201 (347) 889-6424 I really enjoy this studio. Their equipment is great, the studio is very clean, and the instructors teach very effective classes.

I really enjoy the mat classes here, I feel like I always get a new and different workout even though pilates mat can often include the same movements. The teachers here will change it up with props…and funny jokes too if you get the right teacher :-).

New Leaf Yoga and Pilates

Screen Shot 2015-05-25 at 9.57.38 AM

142 Prospect Park West, (9th St. entrance), Brooklyn, NY 11215 (718) 369-0005

The pilates teachers here are highly trained and intuitive. They always give individualized attention, and even the slightest adjustments they have made to my form resulted in a huge difference in my pilates practice. The studio itself is clean and airy with beautiful light. It’s located right on Prospect Park, so you leave feeling amazing from class and bonus: you’re right in nature. I highly recommend this studio. It’s worth the trip even if you’re not a Park Slope native.
