Part 1. Cheap Hotel Prices: A Gamble If You Are A Mac User

I have been a Mac user since the age 4, when my kindergarten class began learning from the big gray “Macintosh” boxes. I love Mac, my Iphone, my Ipad. And of course I love shopping on said devices. I am always on the look for cheap hotel prices.

So you can imagine my shock when I read this NPR article (story first broken by Washington Street Journal) which reveals that Mac users can sometimes end up paying higher prices for hotels on Orbitz.

The Washington Street Journal reports:

— “Orbitz executives confirmed that the company is experimenting with showing different hotel offers to Mac and PC visitors, but said the company isn’t showing the same room to different users at different prices. They also pointed out that users can opt to rank results by price.”

This article now has Queen Cheap rethinking my proven approach to online travel booking and online shopping. I will conduct research using my Mac and my significant other’s PC. Yes I’m a Mac and he’s a PC. I will be posting a series of articles related to price fluctuations.

In the meantime, as you ponder your shopping life and whether you should really be a Mac or a PC, I will leave you with a nostalgic look at the Mac/PC commercials. Enjoy this youtube compilation:
