If you’re like me, you’re always paying attention to the latest fashion trends in magazines, Fashion Weeks across the globe, and on blogs. BUT often you see the trends and do not know where to buy them for cheap. For me finding the latest fashion trends is a three part process. Read below for my tips.
I. Shop Trends MODESTLY
Now I use the word “trends” loosely. I”m not the sort of fashionista to shop trends that go out of style next month: for instance the current white boot trend:
I just don’t have the wallet to support it, nor do I agree with it on a moral level (I’m all for recycling).
I only shop trends that can still be seen as classics in future seasons. For instance the robe coat “trend” that’s hot right now has been around for awhile and can take you through many many fall and winter seasons.
My advice when shopping trends: Look for classic silhouettes, clean lines, and black is always your best friend! Vintage (or vintage inspired) pieces also work for classic wardrobe pieces, because hey it’s vintage and timeless.
II. Know Your Keywords
Keywords are KEY when shopping your fashion trends online. If you’re not sure WHAT keywords to look for or what is even on trend currently, see my website suggestions directly below.
NOTE: this is just a keyword search to help you find cheap deals on trends. The websites below are not necessarily cheap. We will get to the CHEAP a little later.
Nordstrom’s Fresh Edit is constantly updated to reflect current trends and is a great source of shopping inspiration.
Bloomingdales is always right on par with NYC fashion trends. They are usually my first place for inspiration.
Visit Who What Wear just for their great name. No really, they will give you the trends and then some…from current trends to what the stars wore; this site delivers so check it out! They even have printable fall checklists for you uber organized shoppers!
III. Take Your Keywords To These Fashion Search Engines
Fashion search engines exist, so use them! You can find great deals this way.
Google Shopping CAN help you find cheaper versions of the latest fashion trends, but sometimes they pull some really old ugly clothes too, so use it with caution.
SHOT & SHOP is your VISUAL SEARCH ENGINE to find and shop FASHION from a PHOTO. See it, want it, shotnshop it! That easy. Search, combine, and shop everything you like, all from a simple photo. Nearly 500,000 WOMEN’S AND MEN’S fashion garments from over 3500 brands are waiting.
Zara is a favorite of mine for top trends made with mostly quality fabrics (sometimes it can be hit or miss, usually it’s a hit). On any given day I can walk in there, buy an outfit and know that it’s right on trend. Their prices are definitely reasonable and it’s super easy to find classic silhouettes.
Skip H&M unless it’s one of their designer collabs (such as the Alexander Wang collab we are all anxiously awaiting). The quality and cuts are just not worth the $14.99 shirt that will last 5 washes. Put that money that towards something that’s $60 at Zara, and it will last you much much longer.
