NYC Sample Sales have been a huge staple in my cheap shopping life for more than 10 years. Back then it was MUCH harder to find sample sales. Email lists were becoming a little bit popular, but usually you found them by walking down the right street at the right time. Back then Gilt was a coveted brick and mortar sample sale not the mega-sale website they are today.
Whenever friends visit from out of town, they want to know “where’s the best shopping in NYC?” My first answer is Always Always Always see what sample sales are happening around town! You see NYC has some of the best shopping on the planet (Hong Kong, Stockholm, and London are my runner ups in case you were wondering). The tricky thing is finding the deals, because most brick and mortar stores here pay a hefty rent every month and the best deals only come around official sale times (end of season and major holidays).
The good news for you is that NYC Sample Sales are happening ALL year round. I put this list together of my favorite and the most up to date blogs right now who help you find your perfect NYC Sample Sale.
Where To Find The Best NYC Sample Sales
Racked makes it number one on my list for a couple of reasons: 1. They have a nifty little map showing where the sample sales are located (great for shopping trip planning), 2. Their dealfeed radar organizes all the month’s sales for you (see below) and 3. I heart Racked in general (and if you don’t know about them now I’m happy to make the introduction).
Lazar has been around since 1986, and they have up to date sample sale info on their website. They also have a paying service which is $75/year…I personally do not recommend paying for sales advice. Most sales ARE advertised somewhere on the web, just do your due diligence. Someone is bound to reveal the same things on this paid service. Still, Elysa Lazar is a household name in bargain shopping and it’s worth visiting her site. I still prefer Racked’s map feature, just saying.
The Stylish City makes my list because she offers advice on sample sales AND she also has a “bid” section to her website making it a bit more unique. The bid section takes you to LuxeBell aka Boutique 57: a site where you negotiate prices. (I know this is a little off topic but def worth pointing out!)
So there you have it my top 3 NYC Sample Sale websites that offer you a little bit more than just a sales listing. Happy Shopping!!
