It’s no secret “ugly sandals” are taking summer shoes by storm for the past couple of years (now more than ever). Now, let’s rephrase that term as I really don’t like the word “ugly”….and these shoes are my latest obsession. How about, classic…comfortable…practical…yet fashionable summer sandals for 2014. Birkenstocks have been around for ages, and Europeans wear them no matter what the trend is. Therefore, when you buy these sandals you are going to keep them around for a while. And so, I present to you my top picks for this year’s summer sandals fashion trend under $200 (most closer to $100):
Summer Shoes: Fashion Trend Picks for 2014
These beauties have nothing but glowing reviews…some say they make your legs look longer, all agree they are super comfy, and the leather is TDF. $195 at Nordstrom
Grunge meets Roman chic in this awesome design from Dr. Martens Clarissa sandals. Docs captured my heart in the 90s…and they continue to today. As with all Docs, these require a breaking in period (great tips for that on WikiHow). These also run big so size 1 size down. The patent leather and metallic versions do not seem to break in as easy FYI. As low as $79 on Amazon and $119 on Nordstrom.
These are super trendy right now especially in white. If you opt for a different neutral color, these will last you for MANY seasons. Your feet will also thank you due to that lovely cork footbed. You can pair these with anything for Summer 2014…I think JCrew would even put these on with a bridesmaid dress to be honest $129 on Nordstrom,$120 on Zappos, and $130 on JCrew (who claims to have special Birks made just for them). *TIP: do not buy birko-flor. Yes it’s cheaper, but the material is fake, uncomfortable, and not worth it!
